The Whole Armour of God and the Wiles of the Devil
WilesOfTheDevil – HolyWednesday – JudasBetraysChrist – Luke_22.1-5
Wednesday April 5th,
In the Year of Our Lord 2023.
As we approach the end of the Holy Week, we reflect on the events that led to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Holy Wednesday, also known as Spy Wednesday, is a day of remembrance of the betrayal of Jesus by one of his own disciples, Judas Iscariot. In Luke 22.1-5, we read about how Satan entered Judas, leading him to betray Jesus to the chief priests and officers.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread, also known as Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and scribes were trying to find a way to put Jesus to death. They were afraid of the people’s reaction, as many of them believed Jesus was the Messiah. They were desperate to find a way to get rid of Jesus, and Judas Iscariot presented them with an opportunity.
Satan entered Judas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, and he left to discuss with the chief priests and officers how he could betray Jesus to them. They were delighted with the opportunity, and they agreed to give him money. Judas, who had been with Jesus for three years, agreed to betray him for a few pieces of silver.
Judas’ actions are a reminder of how easily we can be led astray by greed, temptation, and the influence of evil forces. His betrayal of Jesus led to his arrest, trial, and eventual crucifixion, which are central to the Resurrection Sunday event. However, it is important to remember that God can turn even the darkest moments of our lives into opportunities for redemption and salvation.
As we reflect on Holy Wednesday, we are reminded of the importance of staying true to our beliefs and values, even in the face of temptation and adversity. We must be vigilant in guarding our hearts and minds against the influence of evil forces, just as Jesus did in the wilderness when he was tempted by Satan.
In conclusion, Holy Wednesday is a day of remembrance of the betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot. His actions are a reminder of how easily we can be led astray by temptation and evil forces. As we approach the end of the Holy Week, may we stay true to our beliefs and values, and may we seek the strength and guidance of God to guide us through life’s challenges. TheWholeArmourOfGod.org
