Discover the Spirit That Lives Within You
Introduction:
In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul provides profound insights into the nature of our existence and the spiritual reality that permeates our lives. In Romans 8.9-11, he highlights the significance of the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us. These verses invite us to explore the essence of our being and the transformative power that lies within. Let us delve into the depth of these verses and discover the spirit that lives in each one of us.
1. The Spirit of God Dwells in You:
According to Paul, those who are in Christ are not controlled by their sinful nature but are instead governed by the Spirit of God. This indwelling Spirit is the mark of a true believer. It signifies a divine presence that guides, empowers, and transforms our lives. By having the Spirit of God within us, we are no longer bound by the limitations of our fleshly desires.
2. The Spirit of Christ:
Paul emphasizes that if anyone does not possess the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Him. The Spirit of Christ is the essence of His nature and character, working within us to conform us to His image. Through the Spirit, we become united with Christ, sharing in His life, death, and resurrection. It is by having the Spirit of Christ that we truly belong to Him and experience the fullness of His redemptive work.
3. Life Through the Spirit:
Though our physical bodies are subject to death due to sin, the Spirit of God imparts life to our spirits. The righteousness of Christ, imputed to us through faith, brings life to our inner being. The Spirit revitalizes us, granting us newness of life, and enabling us to walk in righteousness and holiness.
4. The Resurrection Power:
Paul reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells within us. This astounding truth demonstrates the incomparable power of the Holy Spirit. Just as God raised Christ from the dead, the Spirit is also capable of giving life to our mortal bodies. The indwelling Spirit transforms not only our spiritual existence but also has the potential to rejuvenate and revitalize our physical bodies.
Conclusion:
Romans 8.9-11 paints a vivid picture of the spiritual reality that believers in Christ experience. The Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ dwell within us, transforming our lives and empowering us to live in righteousness. This divine presence brings life, both spiritually and potentially even physically. As we meditate on these verses, let us embrace the truth of God’s Spirit living in us and allow His power to manifest in every aspect of our lives.

Romans 8:9-11 NASB
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Psalm 34
I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul will make its boast in the Lord;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
3 Exalt the Lord with me,
And let’s exalt His name together.
4 I sought the Lord and He answered me,
And rescued me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
6 This wretched man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
9 Fear the Lord, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no lack of anything.
10 The young lions do without and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.
11 Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the person who desires life
And loves length of days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears are toward their cry for help.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
To eliminate the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears
And rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 The afflictions of the righteous are many,
But the Lord rescues him from them all.
20 He protects all his bones,
Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil will bring death to the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will suffer for their guilt.
22 The Lord redeems the souls of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will suffer for their guilt. + (New American Standard Bible)

Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.
John 14.1-3 NASB
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.

34 “But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; 35 for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth. 36 But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

1 Corinthians 15.51-52 NASB
51 Behold, I am telling you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
1 Thessalonians 4.13-18 NASB
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 15 For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.
