The Whole Armour of God and the Wiles of the Devil

TrueFellowship – Acts_2.41-47 – DailyDevotionalAudio

Sunday April 2nd,
In the Year of Our Lord 2023.

As we read Acts 2.41-47, we are given a glimpse into the early church and how they lived out their faith. It is clear that they were not just a group of individuals who believed in Jesus, but they were a community that lived in fellowship with one another.

Verse 41 tells us that after receiving the Word of God, three thousand souls were added to their number. This is a powerful reminder of the impact that sharing the Gospel can have. We should never underestimate the power of sharing the Word of God with others.

Verse 42 describes the devotion of the early believers. They were committed to learning from the apostles, and they were devoted to fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. These practices are still vital for us today. We need to be intentional about learning from those who are wise and knowledgeable in the faith, and we need to be committed to spending time in fellowship with other believers. Breaking bread together is also an important reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the importance of communion. And of course, prayer is essential for our spiritual growth and relationship with God.

Verse 43 speaks of the sense of awe that the early believers had. They were amazed at the wonders and signs that were taking place through the apostles. It is important to remember that God still performs miracles today, and we should never lose our sense of awe and wonder at what God can do.

Verse 44-45 describe the selflessness of the early church. They were willing to sell their possessions and share with others who were in need. This is a powerful reminder of the importance of generosity and caring for one another. We should be willing to give sacrificially to help others in need, just as the early church did.

Verse 46 tells us that the early believers continued to meet together with one mind. They were united in their faith, and they were committed to breaking bread and sharing meals together. This is a beautiful picture of community and fellowship, and it is something that we should strive for in our own lives.

Finally, verse 47 tells us that the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. This is a reminder that when we live out our faith in community with others, it can have a powerful impact on those around us. Our lives can be a witness to others, and we can help lead them to faith in Jesus Christ.

As we reflect on Acts 2.41-47, let us be encouraged to live out our faith in community with others. Let us be devoted to learning from those who are wise in the faith, committed to fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. Let us be generous and caring towards those in need, and let us strive for unity in our faith. May we be a witness to others and lead them to faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Acts 2.41-47 NASB

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all the believers were together and had all things in common; 45 and they would sell their property and possessions and share them with all, to the extent that anyone had need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. New American Standard Bible
