The Rapture + Pre-Mid-Post Tribulation + Why The Debate

The concept of the Rapture and the Tribulation period is a popular topic among Christians, but it is also one of the most controversial and debated topics. The Rapture refers to the event where believers in Christ are taken up to heaven, while the Tribulation is a period of great suffering and judgment on the earth. There are different views on when the Rapture will take place in relation to the Tribulation, including Pre-Tribulation, Mid-Tribulation, and Post-Tribulation views.

The Pre-Tribulation view of the Rapture is the belief that the Rapture will take place before the Tribulation period. Proponents of this view point to various scriptures such as 1 Thessalonians 4.16-17, which says, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever.” This view teaches that believers will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the Tribulation period begins.

The Mid-Tribulation view of the Rapture is the belief that the Rapture will take place in the middle of the Tribulation period. This view teaches that believers will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air at the midpoint of the Tribulation period, before the worst of the judgments and suffering take place. Proponents of this view point to scriptures such as Matthew 24.29-31, which says, “Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

The Post-Tribulation view of the Rapture is the belief that the Rapture will take place at the end of the Tribulation period. Proponents of this view point to scriptures such as Revelation 20.4-5, which says, “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.”

Regardless of which view one holds, the most important thing is to be ready for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24.42-44, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

In conclusion, the Rapture and Tribulation period are important doctrines in Christian theology, and the debate on when the Rapture will occur will likely continue. TheWholeArmourOfGod.org

2 Thessalonians 2.1– 12 NASB

1 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. Are You Born Again?

John 3.15 KJV That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 Thessalonians 5.9 NASB

For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Revelation 3.10 NASB

Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.

John 14.1-3 NASB

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.

Luke 21.34-36 NASB

34 “But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; 35 for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth. 36 But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Titus 2.13 NASB

looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,

1 Corinthians 15.51-52 NASB

51 Behold, I am telling you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4.13-18 NASB

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 15 For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.
