In the Year of Our Lord 2023.
As we read through the book of Revelation, it can be easy to become overwhelmed and even fearful. The vivid descriptions of the end of days and the return of Jesus Christ can leave us feeling uncertain about what is to come. However, in Revelation 1, we are given a guide to living in the end of days and a reminder of God’s love and power.
The book of Revelation begins with an introduction from John, the author of the book. John shares that he was on the island of Patmos because of his faith and the testimony of Jesus Christ. While on the island, he received a revelation from God about the things that were soon to take place. John writes to the seven churches in Asia, sharing the message he received from God.
In verse 3, John reminds us that those who read and keep the words of the prophecy will be blessed. This is a reminder that even in the midst of uncertainty and fear, we can find peace and hope in God’s promises.
In verses 4-6, John gives us a glimpse of the Trinity. We see the Father, represented as the one who is, who was, and who is to come, and the seven spirits before His throne. We also see the Son, Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. In these verses, we are reminded of the power and majesty of God.
Verse 7 is a powerful reminder of the return of Jesus Christ. John writes that Jesus is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him. This is a promise that Jesus will return, and all will witness His glory and power.
In verse 8, God reminds us that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. This is a reminder that God is in control of all things, and nothing happens outside of His will.
In verses 9-20, John shares his vision of Jesus. He sees Jesus standing among seven golden lampstands, with seven stars in His right hand. Jesus is described as a figure of great power and glory, with eyes like flames of fire and a voice like many waters. John falls at Jesus’ feet, overcome by the power and majesty of the vision.
Despite the overwhelming nature of the vision, Jesus reassures John and reminds him of His love and power. Jesus tells John not to be afraid, and that He has the keys to death and Hades. This is a reminder that even in the end of days, God is in control, and we can trust in His power and love.
As we read through Revelation 1, we are reminded of the power and majesty of God, and the promise of Jesus’ return. We are also reminded that even in the end of days, we can find peace and hope in God’s promises. By keeping the words of the prophecy and trusting in God’s power and love, we can navigate the end of days with confidence and assurance. TheWholeArmourOfGod.org

Revelation 1
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, 2 who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, everything that he saw. 3 Blessed is the one who reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood— 6 and He made us into a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
9 I, John, your brother and fellow participant in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, “Write on a scroll what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And after turning I saw seven golden lampstands; 13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and wrapped around the chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His feet were like burnished bronze when it has been heated to a glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.
17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things. 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Prepare Your Heart, As if Today is Your Last.

John 3.15 NASB so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him.
1 Thessalonians 5.9 NASB
For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Revelation 3.10 NASB
Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.
John 14.1-3 NASB
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.
Luke 21.34-36 NASB
34 “But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; 35 for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth. 36 But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Titus 2.13 NASB

1 Corinthians 15.51-52 NASB
51 Behold, I am telling you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
1 Thessalonians 4.13-18 NASB
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 15 For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.
