The Whole Armour of God and the Wiles of the Devil

In the Year of Our Lord 2023.

Deception has been a tool of the enemy since the beginning of time. It is used to mislead people from the truth and to prevent them from living a godly life. In the book of 2 Timothy, the apostle Paul warns about the rise of deceivers in the last days. He explains that these deceivers will not only deceive others but also be deceived themselves.

In 2 Timothy 3.12-14, Paul warns about the dangers of deceivers and provides guidance on how to recognize them. Here are five ways to recognize deceivers based on this passage:

1. They will persecute those who live in a godly way

According to 2 Timothy 3.12, anyone who desires to live a godly life will face persecution. Deceivers will persecute those who seek to live according to God’s will. This persecution can take many forms, including physical, emotional, and social. Those who persecute others for their faith are often deceivers themselves.

2. They will be evil people

In 2 Timothy 3.13, Paul warns that deceivers will be evil people who will proceed from bad to worse. These individuals will not only be deceivers but will also be wicked in their actions. They will have a disregard for the well-being of others and will use their deception to gain power and control.

3. They will be impostors

Deceivers are not always easy to spot. They often appear as sincere and trustworthy individuals. However, in reality, they are impostors who seek to mislead and manipulate others. They may present themselves as religious leaders, politicians, or other influential figures.

4. They will deceive and be deceived

According to 2 Timothy 3.13, deceivers will not only deceive others but will also be deceived themselves. They may believe their own lies and become trapped in a cycle of deception. This can make it even more difficult to recognize them as deceivers.

5. They will contradict the truth

In 2 Timothy 3.14, Paul encourages believers to continue in the things they have learned and become convinced of. This means holding fast to the truth and not being swayed by deceivers who contradict it. Deceivers will often twist the truth or present false teachings to mislead others.

In conclusion, the rise of deceivers is a sign of the last days. However, as believers, we can recognize them by their actions and hold fast to the truth. By doing so, we can avoid being deceived and remain steadfast in our faith. is Sharing this Video Published by Hope For Our Times YouTube Video Published on May 4th 2023 — This video is the only content by Hope For Our Times

2 Timothy 3.12-14

12 Indeed, all who want to live in a godly way in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13 But evil people and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, + (New American Standard Bible)

Do you Understand the Times We’re In?

2 Timothy 3.1-5 NASB
Difficult Times Will Come

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.

Daniel 12.8-10 NASB

But as for me, I heard but did not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?” 9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words will be kept secret and sealed up until the end time. 10 Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.

1 Corinthians 15.51-52 NASB

51 Behold, I am telling you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4.13-18 NASB

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 15 For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.

2 Thessalonians 2.1-3, 6-9 NASB

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

6 And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders,
